The Glendale City Council on Friday afternoon voted, 4-2, to approve a
20-year arena lease management deal with potential Coyotes owner Greg
Jamison as he and his group of investors attempt to purchase the team
from the National Hockey League. The vote capped a rather lengthy special City Council Meeting at the City Court.
Jamison, who is a former CEO of the San Jose Sharks, still has to be
formally approved for ownership by the NHL's Board of Governors and
league executives. The NHL Board of Governors
expects to approve Jamison as owner in about three weeks.
Although the City of Glendale vote settles one of the larger questions remaining, there is still a lot of work to be done before the ownership of the Coyotes will be transferred and a deal finalized.
